•   EAST BRUNSWICK TECH BASEBALL

    POLICY AND CODE OF CONDUCT

    1. Baseball is a team sport that requires your presence every day. Be on time and at all practices and games. (This includes evenings, Saturdays, and over Spring Break)

    2. If you must miss a practice for any reason, you must notify the Coach personally (face to face) BEFORE the practice was to begin. (Sending someone else with a message is considered unexcused!) You can send a text message to sakt@mcmsnj.net or modzelewskis@mcmsnj.net and it will go directly to our phone or if it’s in school, see coach BEFORE you leave. Legitimate reasons for missing games or practice include: death in the family, being sick or hospitalized, religious reasons, or other specific reasons with notification from parent and at the coaches’ discretion. (Family trips/vacations, work, parties, proms that are not yours, and recreation sports ARE NOT legitimate reasons.) Our season can run until the 2nd week of June; that includes Saturday practices and games and Memorial Day weekend games. Two unexcused absences will lead to a game suspension; three will lead to a coaches meeting. An absence is considered unexcused if I do not know where you are.

3.It is expected that you treat ALL people with respect. This includes coaches, administrators, teachers, parents, fans, opponents, and fellow players. Nobody deserves disrespectful and abusive behavior and none will be tolerated.

    4. Suspensions and other disciplinary actions reflect negatively on the baseball program. If you are suspended from school, you will not play two games for everyday suspended upon your return. Continued suspensions will lead to a coaches meeting and possible dismissal from the team. Detention is considered an unexcused absence and you will miss practice and game time because of it. (see #2)

    5. Being on the Baseball Team does not exempt you from P.E. class. If you do not participate during daily school activities then you will not be able to participate in after school activities. This is an unexcused absence (see #2).

    6. Being a part of the team DOES NOT guarantee playing time. Playing time is determined by ability, practice, effort and attitude. It is the coach’s decision and that decision is final.

    7. Practice last about two hours each day. For those two hours it is expected that baseball will be the main focus. Anything that can take you or your teammates away from that focus will not be tolerated.
