A little about me: Congrats on your acceptance to the academy, class of ‘29! My name is Katie, and I’m from Metuchen. Coming to the academy was a big transition for me; I was the only person in my town coming to this new school, which encouraged me to engage with my peers, make new friends, and put myself out there in any social setting I could find. No matter if you see me falling asleep in class, lugging my tennis equipment in the halls, or racing to a club at 7:45 in the morning, don’t be afraid to reach out! There were definitely mistakes I made my freshman year, which I want to make sure none of you make as well. I admittedly found it overwhelming my first few months here (I did in fact get a mental heart attack the first time I got below a 70 on a test), but learning to manage my time and being able to reach out when I needed help was super important in conquering these initial struggles. Whether it be your AP bio class, making friends, picking clubs, or balancing your after school sport with crammin-I mean, studying, I’m happy to help with whatever you need. Can’t wait to meet you all!
