• Welcome to Physical Therapy & Exercise Science at Piscataway Magnet School!


    This program will prepare you for the educational journey to pursue a career in the sports medicine (healthcare - Physical Therapy/Athletic Training) and exercise science (fitness & wellness - Personal Training/Group Exercise) fields/industry. The program will explore careers in physical therapy, athletic training, strength & conditioning, fitness & wellness and more.

    The program will incorporate real world clinical scenarios to explore the concepts of anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, injury/illness prevention, clinical evaluation & diagnosis, immediate & emergency care, treatment modalities, rehabilitation exercises, strength training & fitness conditioning, health care administration and ethics/professional responsibility.

    Students will also earn a CPR/AED/First Aid Certification via the American Heart Association and OSHA 10 Certification for workplace safety.

    This program is currently working towards expanding opportunities for practicums including Community Service/Volunteering/Work-Based Learning, Job Shadowing & Simulated Workplace Experiences. Additionally, this program is constructing the ability for students to earn a certification that will yield marketability as a Personal Fitness Trainer obtained from an industry-competitive organization. 

    This program is currently working with Middlesex College as a postsecondary institution to develop dual-credit articulation agreement for students in this program to earn college credit while enrolled in this program. This course is designed to prepare you for life and career after high school, whether you are entering the workforce or attending post-secondary college.
