Admissions Overview
All students who apply participate in a selective admissions process. The process considers middle school grades and a school-developed assessment in language arts, mathematics, and writing. The number of applicants to the Academy has increased each year since the school’s inception in September 2000, and each subsequent year reflects strong competition for a limited number of seats.
Students, with the approval of their parents or guardians, may submit an application to the Edison Academy Magnet School. Applications are made available every October on our website under the ADMISSIONS tab. Students from all municipalities within Middlesex County may apply. Students are offered admission after successfully completing the application process, admission test, and interview.
In order to apply to the Edison Academy Magnet School, a student must be in eighth grade during the application season, successfully complete a full year of Algebra 1 by June of their eighth-grade year and live in Middlesex County at the time of submitting the application. No exceptions will be made. For additional information, see FAQs.
