The counseling program at the Edison Academy Magnet School is comprehensive, coordinated and proactive. The focus is on the student as a "whole", supporting academic, career and personal-social development. It is a vital part of the educational experience afforded students.

The program consists of integrated activities of the school counselor in cooperation with the entire school community. Students are supported in maximizing success in school, social competence and in their development as contributing members of society. An integral part of the program focuses on providing the knowledge and skills needed to understand and effectively cope with daily life and to develop effective decision-making skills.

Mr. Richard Fernandez works with all students individually and in groups, addressing personal concerns and school-related issues. There is an organized, sequential program in place for academic advising, career exploration and college planning. He also focuses on providing services and activities throughout the year for the Academy admissions program.

Appointments are mandatory for parents who wish to meet with the counselor. Phone messages and emails will be addressed within 24 hours.

Please refer to the calendar often for planned events, dates to remember and more!
