Your school library media center is a force for excellence in education, and it reflects the goals and philosophy of your school district. Its purpose is to provide a storehouse of information and the dissemination thereof. The collection it houses forms an integral part of the curriculum not only by supplementing it, but also by providing materials for research and enrichment in all areas and at all levels. The core of the collection focuses on the technical and theoretical aspects of the subject areas. It provides both print (fiction, non-fiction and reference books, magazines and newspapers) and computer resources (Online Databases, district software programs and the Internet) which support the effort of the school to guide students toward self-respect, self actualization, competence in academic/related and career skills as well as positive participation in the community. The scope of the collection includes diverse points of view on social, political, ethnic, and controversial topics, which will enable its users to gain insight into all issues from all perspectives.
