Pranav Joshi
Pranav Joshi is a Senior at Edison Academy where he is the Student Body President and an Editor for the Eagle Eye newspaper. For his school, he has qualified for the International Space Settlement Design Competition by placing 1st place at the East Coast qualifier, placed top 3 twice at the FBLA state conference, top 3 thrice at the TSA state conference, and acted as the student representative for the Board of Education. Outside of school, Pranav founded a local STEM education initiative called Tech Talks in which he gives presentations on technology at local senior centers and interviews researchers to share their experiences with high schoolers. Pranav has published a research paper on utilizing machine learning techniques to predict emotional exhaustion in medical students, and interned at the Center for AI research at NJIT under Dr. Guilang Wang. He is very community-minded, as he acts as the state social media director for the student-led initiative Generation Ratify which works to ratify the equal rights amendment, he is a math and essay writing tutor for middle schoolers for which he has received the Presidential Volunteer award twice, and has hosted a COVID-19 fundraiser that donated 7 ventilators to a rural hospital in India. He is also working on developing a greenway for pollinators in New Jersey with the Digital and Spatial History Lab at NJIT. He enjoys listening to music, reading poetry, playing for his school's varsity tennis team, and exploring new Korean restaurants in the tri-state area. Pranav intends to study the intersection of artificial intelligence and public health in college, hoping to transform mental health treatment and disease progression analysis with autonomous models.
