‘Twelfth Night’ to be presented on MCVTS East Brunswick Campus
Shakespeare’s classic comedy “Twelfth Night” – with a twist -- will be presented Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31 and April 1, at 7 p.m. on the East Brunswick Campus of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools, 112 Rues Lane.
The production is directed by theater program instructor Maria Aladren and features students in the MCVTS School of the Arts, including the leads, Vaughn Broderick of Monroe; Darian Bencosme and Shamel Flores, both of Perth Amboy; Lauren Cyrus of South Brunswick; N’Digo Jones of Piscataway, and Thaddeus Salters of Carteret. Also in the cast are Michael Villanueva and Victoria Menendez, both of Woodbridge; Jillian Silva of South Amboy; Alyson Fernandez and Brianna Bradsher, both of Perth Amboy; Jorden Whitley of Old Bridge, and Jose Dominguez of Edison.
Professionals John Salutz and Kasey Gillette are in charge of light design and sound, and costumes, respectively.
The new MCVTS arts technology program, under instructor Lea Anello, will assist in set and costume design, audio and lighting design and engineering, and stage and production management.
The scene is moved from the Illyria of classical antiquity to 1950s Cuba just before the revolution. It will feature Cuban music performed and arranged by students, and the MCVTS culinary arts program will serve Cuban food and beverages in the lobby.

Tickets at the door will be $7 for students and $17 for adults. Teachers and school administrators, K through college, are free. The show will run approximately two hours with intermission.
The MCVTS theater program provides an intensive, laboratory-based foundation for young artists seeking excellence in the field of the arts. The program prepares students for entry into bachelor of fine arts college programs and future employment in the arts.
The Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School District, the first full-time county vocational school district in the nation, has seven schools on five campuses, in East Brunswick, Edison, Piscataway, Perth Amboy and Woodbridge.
