MCVTS School of the Arts schedules dance performance and auditions

The School of the Arts on the East Brunswick Campus of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools has scheduled two important events in December: the winter dance show and the first round of auditions for prospective freshman to enter the school in the fall of 2018.

School of the Arts dance students, under the direction of instructor Cleo Mack, will perform “The Rite of Spring” Thursday and Friday, Dec. 14 and 15, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium on the East Brunswick Campus, 112 Rues Lane.

General admission tickets are $10, $5 for students and senior citizens.

Auditions for the five School of the Arts career majors – theater, dance, digital film, graphic design, and multimedia art and design – will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 6 p.m. on the East Brunswick Campus. An online registration form is available at www.mcmsnj.net; click on “East Brunswick” under the “Select a School” drop-down on top of the home page.

Those interested in graphic design and multimedia art and design should bring a portfolio of their work. Prospective digital film majors should bring a one-minute original film, while prospective theater majors should prepare a one-minute monologue and dress for movement. Those interested in dance should dress appropriately for a dance class.

Subsequent rounds of auditions will be held Feb. 21 and April 23, 2018.
