Four films by MCVTS students chosen for film festival

Films by four students on the MCVTS East Brunswick Campus have been accepted for the fourth Artists Alike Film Festival.

If the students win in their categories, they will advance to the 16th annual Garden State Film Festival.

The winning films are:

“Double Tap: The Age of Social Media” by Kimberly Hansen, a senior from Carteret, in the mini-documentary category.

“Walking Lament” by Sam Seda, a senior from South Plainfield, in the narrative category.

“Passionate” by Noah Perez, a junior from South River, in the mini-documentary.

“Wanted” by Isaiah Gomez, a junior from Perth Amboy, in the suspense/thriller category.

The films, chosen from more than 170 submissions, were judged by a panel of industry professionals.

The films by the East Brunswick Campus students will be screened Friday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Lenape High School in Medford, N.J.

The students are the Digital Filmmaking program in the School of the Arts on the East Brunswick Campus. Their instructor is Louis Libitz.

The Garden State Film Festival will be held March 22-25 in Asbury Park.
