23 adult students complete MCVTS nursing program
Twenty-three new nurses have graduated from the LPN adult education program of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools.
The ceremony, held Feb. 15, featured a greeting by Assistant Superintendent of Schools Jeffrey Bicsko. The master of ceremonies was Dawn M. Lystad, MCVTS director of adult education, while practical nursing program coordinator Rosemary Hoeler presented awards.
The graduates completed a 15-month program on the MCVTS Piscataway Campus, beginning in September 2016. A second graduation will be held in June for students who began their studies in January 2017.
Graduates Alison Nirdlinger of Edison and Heidi E. Petersen East Brunswick were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. Student speakers included Shakima Dennis of New Brunswick and Damariz Tiban of Plainfield.
The MCVTS Adult School offers a daytime program in practical nursing, and evening programs in electrical technology; heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology; manicuring; plumbing technology; and skin care, as well as apprentice training in business and office occupations, construction trades and manufacturing industries, and customized training that can be developed to meet the needs of employers.
