Film festival to showcase works by MCVTS students

The fourth Reel Film Festival, showcasing short works by students in the School of the Arts of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools, will be held May 3 and 4 in the auditorium on the East Brunswick Campus.

Films by students in the MCVTS Digital Film program will include narratives, documentaries, experimental films, and stop-motion animation. There also will be audio, photography and 360-degree virtual reality exhibits.

Film instructor Louis Libitz said 2018 View-Master Photography and Filminute competition winners also will be on display.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. The shows will begin at 6 p.m. The East Brunswick Campus is at 112 Rues Lane.

Works by five MCVTS digital film students have been selected for the 121th annual Ocean County Library Film Festival:

Walking Lament (Short Film Drama) by Sam Seda, a senior from South Plainfield.

Instant Ramen Noodles (Short Film Comedy) by Victor Ferrer, a sophomore from Perth Amboy.

Passionate (Documentary) by Noah Perez, a junior from South River.

New York Book (Experimental) by Amanda Clark, a junior from North Brunswick.

Progression (Experimental) by Maria Martinez, a sophomore from Carteret. 

The festival will be held on Saturday, April 28, at 6 p.m. in Mancini Hall at the Toms River Branch of the library, 101 Washington St. More information is available at http://theoceancountylibrary.org/Teens/filmfest.
