MCVTS accepting applications for September term
The Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools are accepting applications for the school year beginning in September.
For admission to the East Brunswick, Perth Amboy and Piscataway campuses, the application process for the Class of 2024 begins on the MCVTS home page, www.mcmsnj.net. After clicking on the “Admissions” link, students – with the approval of their parents or guardians – can fill out an application via a writable PDF that is then emailed to the principal of the appropriate campus.
There is a separate application for students who require specialized programs or support due to an identified educational disability.
The district has a rolling admissions policy, so that applications are evaluated as they are received.
“We’re still doing interviews, we’re just doing them remotely,” Assistant Superintendent of Schools Jeffrey Bicsko explained.
Students interested in the Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technology in Edison or the Middlesex County Academy for Allied Health and Biomedical Sciences in Woodbridge start with the application available on each school’s website. The school sites may be reached through the district home page.
Both full-time and shared-time high school programs are available. Applications from Middlesex County residents are given priority. No tuition is charged to residents of Middlesex County.
The district offers more than 30 career majors, from agriculture and ornamental horticulture to welding technology. The School of the Arts on the East Brunswick Campus offers majors in dance, theater, music, film, graphic design, and other arts-related subject areas.
Students also receive instruction in all the traditional areas of a comprehensive high school, including college-preparatory and advanced-placement courses.
The district’s 2,100 students have been attending classes remotely since COVID-19 restrictions were put in place last month.
