Theatre Arts Freshman Showcase continues on YouTube
The MCVTS Theatre Arts Program’s Freshman Showcase for 2021 will continue its YouTube premiere Friday, April 23, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 24, at 2 and 7 p.m.
The production will feature students Solanyi Vasquez Coria from Perth Amboy, Blake Ellis from Old Bridge, Lucas Vitale from Monroe, Paula DeSousa-Rego and Theresa Albrecht from Edison, Kalin Tomahatsch from Highland Park, Mall Clancy from Fords, Isabella Como, Brianna Munoz, Serenity Rogers and Cara Weaver from Sayreville, Izabella Connolly from North Brunswick, Jamie DeLaCruz from Woodbridge, and Anaya Torres from New Brunswick.
The director/advisor is Brian Homer, while Lea Anello is the production manager.
The Freshman Showcase is directed by senior class theatre arts students Sabrina Acosta-Lopez, Kimberly Gonzalez, Kaia Kendzulak and Station Rodriguez. Set design is by Cara Weaver, Issamar Mongeri, Theresa Albrect, and Anya Torres, with music coordination by music teacher Andy Greatorex.
Costume design is by Brianna Munoz, Izabella Connolly, Serenity Rodgers, and Isabella Como; light design by Brianna Munoz, Jamie DeLaCruz, Gabe Puig, and Mally Clancy; the art directors are Sarah Bodi, Chelsea Sackey, Scott Carney, and Rayanne Gryl.

The production follows the successful Senior (Drive-In) Showcase in the fall of 2020, in which senior students presented a digital presentation of films, visual arts and musical performances.
The School of the Arts of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools provides a broad-based practical foundation for young artists seeking excellence in acting, dance, film, directing, stage management, design, arts management and related fields. Students attend the program for half of the school day and complete their high school courses the rest of the day.
The Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School District, the oldest vocational school district in the nation, has seven schools on five campuses, in East Brunswick, Edison, Piscataway, Perth Amboy and Woodbridge. The district marked its centennial in 2014.
